The world's largest cross country bicycle race

Around 17,000 bikers take part in the annual Birkebeinerrittet between Rena and Lillehammer this weekend. Birkebeinerrittet is the world's largest cross country bicycle race. The course is 92 km long.

The start on Saturday is iin Rena and the finish in Lillehammer. All competitors must have passed 17 years of age as per December 31, 2013 and must carry a backpack of at least 3,5 kg throughout the race.

The weather is always important, two years ago the race was a mud bath from beginning to end, but the weather this Saturday is a bit more promising, with just a bit of light rain.
