Priests side with homeless

Several pastors and other participants slept overnight in the Sofienberg Park in Oslo, in protest against the City Council's adoption last week of a ban on sleeping out.

The ban is mainly directed against homeless beggars who come to Oslo in the summer, and camp out in the city parks and green areas.

Tuesday afternoon, the pastors and representatives from the Roma people will meet at the Oslo City Hall, with representatives for the authorities, to discuss the plight of the beggars.
