Parliament buildings evacuated

altThe Parliament Buildings in downtown Oslo were evacuated Thursday afternoon, following an explosion at the back of the building.

The explosion was found to have been caused by an electrical short in an underground transformer, and the representatives and office staff were allowed to return after an inspection by the police and fire department.

The Hafslund power company believes the short may have been caused by excavation in the nearby street, but states that a thorough investigation will be made.
