Norwegian farmes produce less

The self-sufficiency rate of agricultural produce in Norway has dropped by five percentage points over the last five years, Nationen reports.

In 2012 around 47 per cent of food consumption in Norway was covered by produce from Norwegian farmers.

This is the same as the year before, but a five percentage point drop from the period 2004-2008. The greatest reduction is found in the production of grain and beef.

This is shown in a survey made by the Norwegian Agricultural Economics Research Institute.
