Stricter security at Parliament buildings

altThe Oslo municipality has agreed to close off two streets in the centre of the capital, as part of an effort to improve security around the Parliament buildings.

The Parliament Administration had requested that the sections of Akersgata and Karl Johans gate which border on the Parliament buildings be closed to motorised traffic, and the City has now agreed.

This is in line with reccommendations by experts, following the July 22nd terrorist attacks against the government buildings two years ago, when a van carrying a bomb was parked right outside the main entrance and detonated.
