Search for avalanche victims postponed

The search for the three men who were buried by an avalanche on the island of Senja in the county of Troms last Tuesday, has been postponed until after Easter, due to the danger of new avalanches.

The Troms police had a meeting with the families of the three missing men on Good Friday, to inform them of the decision. They said it would be too dangerous to send search parties into the valley where the three men on snow scooters were caught in two large avalanches in the bottom of the valley.

It is also expected that heavy construction machinery will be needed to search through the hard packed masses of snow.
