More Norwegian diplomats to Cairo

Norway has sent an extra five diplomats to Cairo in order to better facilitate the situation after a Norwegian woman was kidnapped while travelling on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt on Friday.

The Norwegian Department of Foreign Affairs is reluctant to comment, but says that Egyptian authorities are in charge, since the kidnapping took place on Egyptian territory.

However, NRK Radio is quoting sources, including Egyptian police, who say that negotiations with the kidnappers for the release of the woman and her Israeli companion is ongoing.
