Four Labour MPs have put a proposal before Parliament (Stortinget) to abolish the Monarchy and make Norway a republic. The proposal was voted down by 83 against 11 votes.
In earlier years, the Socialist Left Party (SV) has made the same proposal several times.
Spokesperson for the new pproposal, Marianne Marthinsen, says it something new, now that the Labour MPs have put the proposal forward.
She believes it may have something to do with the fact that the party now has a younger parliamentary group than in earlier sessons.
