An additional NOK 10 million will be contributed to the UN fund for the African Mali Force (AFISMA), earmarked civilian polce units and human rights observers.
- The money comes in addition to the annual Norwegian aid contributions of NOK 80 million to Mali. Norway has worked inMali since 1980s. We are considering further contributions continously in close dialogue with the authorities, the UN and other contributors, Holmås says.
- Norway supports the proposal to set up a peace keeping UN operation in Mali, and the Government will consider a contribution to such a force, if the Security Council decides to set up such a force, says Norway's Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.
