In favour of Norwegian troops for Africa

altA fresh poll shows that nearly half of those asked are open for the use of Norwegian military forces in a war against extreme Islamists in North Africa.

In the poll, made for Klassekampen, 43 per cent say they are in favour of sending Norwegian troops.

Defence Minister Anne-Grete Strøm-Erichsen believes that many have become aware of the challenges in this region, following the terrorist attack in Algeria.

She says that a possible military participation in Mali is completely independent of the terrorist attack in Algeria, where five Norwegian hostages were killed.
