The Norwegian coastal cruise line "Hurtigruten" has announced job cuts in the administration and restructuring as part of a savings program.
The restructuring calls for closing down the office in Narvik, and concentrating the administration at the office in Tromsø. The aim is to reduce the land-based administration in the Nordic countries by 25-30 per cent, according to the cruise liner.
The plan is to save more than NOK 60 million annually, and it is estimated that between 35 and 40 employees will be redundant, the company writes.
Hurtigruten's coastal cruise liners have operaated along the Norwegian coast for 120 years, and are very popular with tourists as well as the coastal population.
