The King and Queen and the Crown Prince and Crown Princess with family will spend Christmas together at the Royal weekend cabin at Voksenkollen in the hills above Oslo this year.
Whereas the Crown Prince and Princess and King and Queen will celebrate Christmas together, Princess Märtha Louise and her husband will spend Christmas with their children and her husband's family in Moss, an hour south of Oslo, NTB reports.
Last year, the King and Queen spent Christmas at Skaugum, the home of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, along with Mette-Marit's family. This year, however, the Christmas dinner is being held at the King and Queen's private property at Voksenkollen, a traditional weekend property most often used during the winter.
December has been a busy time for the royal family, although the Crown Princess has been ill and not able to participate in many of the holiday-related events. She was supposed to appear at Julemorgen, a Christmas show at NRK, just before the family headed up to Voksenkollen. Mette-Marit however, was still ill, and the Crown Prince had to step in along with Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
The Crown Princess was also not able to participate at this year's Christmas Concert, organized and hosted by the Royal Family at the Royal Palace in Oslo. Several famous Norwegian artists performed, including Tuva Syvertsen, Kurt Nilsen, Amina Sewali and Ida Jenshus.
The concert was a success when it was held last year, is supposed to be a tribute to the youth. 200 young people from across the nation received special invitations to attend the concert, which aired on national television Saturday.
