Swimming: World Short Course gold for Hetland

Norway's Aleksander Hetland won gold in the 50m breaststroke final of the World Short Course Championships in Istanbul, Turkey on Sunday, 26.30 ahead of Slovenia’s Damir Dugonjic.

 

France’s Olympic 50m freestyle champion Florent Manaudou came third.

This was Hetland's 9th internastional championship medal. The Norwegian also won 50m breaststroke gold in the European championship in Istanbul in 2009.

Hetland (29) has announced that he plans to retire from the sport after this championship.
