There is no nonsense in a pile of wood

"There is no nonsense in a pile of wood". It doesn't loose its value in the stock market , It does not rust and it does not file for divorce !." Log Cutting, and firewood is passion for Lars Mytting, the Author of " Solid wood"  and last years X-Mas bestseller. Already 150.000 copies sold in Norway.

The author visited some of the country's coldest and most remote areas and made contact with people using wood as source of heat, - and woodcutters. He stopped at intersections, listening for the sound of chain-saws , or preferably the quiet sound of a pensioner with axe and hand saw. With humor, warmth and insight he provides a portrait of a Norwegian tradition - The use of firewood, and everything that goes into this tradition.  - A tradition in which generation after generation has brought further insights into the kind of tree that gives the best firewood,  how the split wood should be stacked to dry well, and what kind of oven that gives the best heat.

The Swedish translation was the second best-selling book of all non-fiction books in Sweden in November, according to the publisher.
The book is also published in Denmark, with more caution than in Sweden, and in 2013 it will be published in both Finnish and English.

Caring for your own firewood is all about the basics of thinking ahead, self-preservation and the need to cultivate. Moreover, it is practical to use the body which requires strength, repetitiveness,  so that one can imagine freely, or not  think at all.  Perhaps more important, it provides an opportunity to hit hard! The latter can save both marriages and bad peers, and one is allowed to moan and swear if the wood is too heavy, stubborn or requires too much effort to give in.

And last but not least, it warms twice, - when you cut/split it, - and when it is burns !
