Afghanistan: Norwegian citizens fight against ISAF

According to the Norwegian Defence, several Norwegian citizens are participating in operations against the international seurity forces in Afghanistan (ISAF).

It is the first time that Norwegian citizens are connected with insurgents fighting against ISAF in the war-torn country, the newspaper Aftenposten writes.

- The military intelligence service confirms that it during a period of several years has monitored Norwegians who aare travelling to Afghanistan and Pakistan, says head of the service, Lieutenant General Kjetil Grandhagen.

However, he underlines that they know of only a few cases.

According to Aftenposten, in most of the known cases, the men have Islamic background.
