Telenor board chairman resigns

Harald Norvik, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Norwegian telecom provider Telenor ASA, on Wednesday informed the Board that he will resign.

Norvik said he made his decision to step down after the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Trond Giske, representing the majority shareholder in Telenor ASA, had expressed a lack of confidence in him as chairman of Telenor, following the handling of the TV2 issue in January this year.

Harald Norvik will continue as Chairman of the Board until a new Chairman has been elected by the Corporate Assembly. Norvik has served as Chairman since 31 May 2007.
