763 Wikileaks document from Oslo

The controversial whistle-blowing website Wikileaks has released 763 secret messages sent by the US embassy in Oslo to the US State Department from the year 1966 to 2010.

This is shown by figures published by the German newspaper Der Spiegel.

In comparison, there are 671 documents leaked from Stockholm, 601 from Helsinki and 297 from the US embassy in Copenhagen.

A Wikileaks spokesman has indicated that more documents originating in Norway may be released at a later date, Aftenposten reports.

According to TV2 the messages from Oslo deal with information about arms limitation, nuclear arms, the oil industry, the sale of military equipment and terrorism.

According to one of the documents, the US is alleged to have asked Norway to put pressure on Germany, in an effort to hinder German rapprochement with Russia.

According to Aftenposten, there is suppoed to have been disagreement within the German government with regard to what kind of relationship Germany would have with Russia.
