Russian President arrives on official visit

Russian President Dimitrij Medvedev arrived at Oslo Airport Gardermoen at around 10:30 local time on Monday, to begin a two-day official visit to Norway. He was met by Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Crown Prince Haakon.

At 11:30 President Medev and his wife Svetlana were received by King Harald and Queen Sonja on the front steps of the Royal Palace, where lunch will be served later. Crown Princess Mette-Marit was also present, as were members of the Norwegian government and city officials.

In the afternoon the Russian President will be welcomed by the President of the Norwegian Parliament, Dag Terje Andersen.

The President will then place a wreath at the National Munument at the Akershus Castle, before he decorates Norwegian war veterans at the National Defence Museum.

Around 16:00 hours President Medvedev, King Harald and Queen Sonja will arrive at the monument erected in memory of fallen Soviet soldiers.
