According to the last NRK poll, Conservative leader Erna Solberg is for the first time the most popular candidate for the post of Prime minister and head of the Norwegian government. She is ahead of the present prime minister Jens Stoltenberg, Labour.
But the margins are slim, only 0.1 percentage points divide the two candidates.
Stoltenberg has always been popular among the voters. It is well known that in the approaching elections, the Labour Party is likely to use Jens Stoltenberg's popularity for all it's worth. The Labour party`s main issue in the upcoming election is likely to be "education."
However, Mr. Stoltenberg has an equally strong opponent in Erna Solberg. Jens is Labour's strongest card, but voters have problems distinguishing persons and parties. The Labour Party has been beleaguered with several unpopular incidents during the past year, - and has lost popularity.
Analysts say the question will be if Jens's popularity and charisma, especially among the young voters, will be strong enough to pull the Labour Party up to the same level as the Conservatives and Erna.
The voters are getting older to!, - and they are increasing in numbers.
