Police meets to discuss abduction attempts

The National Bureau of Crime Investigation (KRIPOS) has called a rush meeting on Tuesday to discuss ten cases of reported abduction attempts.

Ten cases of what may attempts of abduction have been reported to police the past ten days.

"These are serious cases that the police gives priority to," says head of communications at Kripos (the criminal police), Anne Bye Sandal. All police districts that are involved have been called into a coordination meeting on Tuesday, but Sandal does not want to go into details about Kripos's work in the case until after the meeting.

The wave of what might be attempts of abduction started on September 20, when a 13-year-old girl was allegedly attacked and attempted pulled into a car at Eidsvoll, an area just outside of Oslo.

The following day, a 15-year-old girl was also allegedly attacked - this also in the eastern region. Later the same day, two older women (19 and 21 years old) were attempted abducted in Drammen, a city about half an hour outside of Oslo. One man has already been arrested and charged for this attack.

Since September 20, there have been several similar incidents involving teens that report that someone has attempted to pull them into a car. The last one on Monday evening, when a man allegedly tried to get three boys who were out playing soccer to come over to his vehicle.

Police from various precincts are now working together to try to find out if the cases are connected somehow, and whether they have any common denominators.
