A cool wedding

Norwegian polar explorer and adventurer Børge Ousland planned the coolest wedding he could think of, when he was going to marry his sweetheart Hege Røgeberg.

Last Thursday Ousland visited the North Pole for the 19th time, but this time everything was very different from his previous visits there. And it was a secret mission. No one was to know.

In addition to bringing his wife-to-be, he was accompanied by a pastor, and two witnesses, and they arrived on the pole point in a chartered Russian helicopter.

Pastor Dag Henrik Berggrav had demanded a cross for the ceremony, and Ousland had fasshioned a nice cross from one adult cross country ski and one child-size ski.

And despite 28 degrees minus Celcius, the bride and groom were dressed up - she in a white silk dress and he in his national costume from Sunnmøre county.

The thoughtful man had even brought a wedding tent, in order that he might carry his bride over the threshold!

After the ceremony, there were fireworks and champagne. And when the party returned to base, there was more champagne and Russian caviar.
