Munch's The Scream at the Museum of Modern Art

Norwegian painter Edvard Munch's world famous painting "The Scream" will be on view at The Museum of Modern Art in New York for the next six months.

Munch painted four versions of "The Scream", and this pastel-on-board from 1895 is the only one remaining in private hands; the three other versions are in the collections of museums in Norway.

The Scream is being lent by a private collector, who bought the painting at a Sothesby's auction in May for nearly $120 million, a record for a work of art sold at auction.
