Rolf Nesch (1893 - 1975) was a respected artist when he fled from Nazi Germany to Norway in 1933. His creative contributions to the graphic art and his development of the material picture gave him international reputation. Rolf Nesch moved to Ål in 1951. This is why a separate museum exhibiting his art was established right here in Ål in 1993, the year he would have turned 100.
