The Executive Board of the Norwegian Central Bank (Norges Bank) surprised many analysts and decided Wednesday to increase the key policy rate by 0.25 percentage point to 1.75 per cent.

The return on the Norwegian Government Pension Fund – Global (National Oil Fund) was 13.5 percent (NOK 325 billion) in the third quarter. The value of the fund rose by NOK 163 billion to NOK 2 549 billion. 
Industrial production in Norway increased by 1.4 per cent from the second to the third quarter of 2009, according to seasonally-adjusted figures from Statistics Norway (SSB), following a downturn in the four previous quarters.
