Widerøe one step closer to a solution

WiderøeThere is dialogue between Widerøe and the airline's cabin crew since negotiations came to a halt and staff went on strike Tuesday evening. All of Widerøe's planes were grounded both Wednesday and Thursday, and although the parties are now talking, the planes will remain on the ground throughout Friday morning.

Even if the strike is called off Thursday evening, no planes will be able to fly before noon Friday because the airline has to report their flights in advance, explains Director of Communications in Widerøe, Richard Kongsteien.

Although Kongsteien does not want to reveal how close they are to a solution, he confirms that both parties wish to end the strike as soon as possible. So far, patients that are traveling to and from hospitals in the three most northern counties have been heavily affected by the strike.

"We have been in contact with the counterparty. Having a dialogue is the first step to a solution, and we have had that," Kongsteien tells NRK.

The strike concerns the workers' ability to influence their own pension plans.
