Wage talks break down

Wage negotiations between the Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) and the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) broke off Thursday evening.

The two sides failed to reach agreement on a new wage settlement, and will now meet with State Arbitrator Kari Gjesteby. It is expected that she will announce a ban on work stoppage.

This means that the two sides will be able to take a break for the Easter holidays, and will meet again after Easter, with a deadline for reaching an agreement before April 8th, in order to avoid a strike.
