While Norwegian exports to the US and Europe were reduced by 23 per cent last year, due to the global financial crisis, the sales of goods to South Korea and China increased by more than 40 per cent, Aftenposten reports.
The export of traditional goods (excluding oil, gas, ships platforms and condensates) to the US and the six largest trade partners in Europe fell by more than NOK 63 billion, or nearly 23 per cent last year.
At the same time the xports to South Korea increased by more than 50 per cent. The export of traditional goods to South Korea has doubled in two years.
The export to China increased by more than 40 per cent. The total value of exports to the two Asian nations reached NOK 30 billion.
It is advanced technical equipment that dominates the statistics, particularly to South Korea, Aftenposten writes.
To China, the export of seafood and aluminium is also important. The export to China has increased by 150 per cent since 2005.
