28,3 kg Cod gave Kjetil Børnstad Word title

The World Championship in Cod Fishing takes place each year in March in Solvær, Lofoten. The event attracts hobby fishermen and enthusiasts from all over the world.

The record from 2012 was 25,88 kg. Read more

655 participants from nine countries met Saturday in Svolvær to compete for the biggest catch, in terms of weight and biggest fish. At 9:00 Saturday morning boats left from the harbour. After five hours of fishing they returned with their catch.

Bjørdal came in with the last boat, and was among the last to weigh-in. 28,3 kg gave him the World title.

Last year there were a total of 26,559 kg fish caught at the World Championships, and winning fish was 25.88 kg.
