SAS pilots present new proposals

As part of an effort to save the SAS airline, the SAS pilots unions in Sweden Denmark and Norway have presented a new proposal to the SAS leadership.

In the early hours of Sunday morning the pilots unions presented an offer which they say meet all demands made by the SAS, says chief negotiator for the Norwegian pilots, Jens Lippestad.

There have been negotiations also with the seven other staff unions all day Saturday. SAS has proposed a salary cut of 15 per cent for all staff, as well as longer working hours.

The leadership of the SAS Group have called an extraordinary board meeting for Sunday, in which it will be decided if the company's savings plan can be carried out. If not, most analysts see only one alternative, namely bankruptcy.
