New strike at airports avoided

A strike by ground crews at Norwegian Civil Aviation (Avinor) airports was avoided in the early hours of Saturday morning, when the two sides reached a new wage agreement, following arbitration five hours on overtime.

Agreement on a new pay scale for airline maintenance technicians was reached earlier in the night.

This follows the announcement Friday evening by Labour Minister Hanne Bjurstrøm, that the Government will refer the dispute in the security guard conflict to the Stautory Wages Board, whose decision will be mandatory on both parties, thus ending the week long strike by airport security guards.

This means that traffic at Norwegian airports should be back to normal by Saturday morning.
