Hydro threatening to flag out

Norwegian aluminum producer Hydro is considering moving its aluminum production abroad, CEO Sven Richard Brandtzæg says.

Brandtzæg says to the newspaper Klassekampen that unless the framework conditions in Norway are changed, Hydro will move production overseas.

Among other things, Hydro demands CO2 compensation, something the EU has already introduced.

It is in particular the production at Sør-Norge Aluminium in Hardangerfjord, on the west coast of Norway which may be closed down.
