New space contract for Norwegian firm

The Norwegian high tech company Presens has announced the award of a new contract  for the delivery of the company's pressure sensors for ESA's new weather satellite ADM-Aeolus.

The contract, signed with the European conglomerate EADS Astrium, is worth Euro 320,000 (NOK 1.6 million), according to the Norwegian Space Centre (Norsk Romsenter).

- This is a prestigious project for us, says Peder Staubo, head of the Presens space program.

The launch of the ADM-Aeolus weather satellite is set for sometime in 2013.

Visit from outer space

An Oslo couple had a surprise when they visited their cabin in an Oslo communal garden plot this weekend, VG reports. They first saw a neat hole in the roof, and when they went inside, they saw a fist-size rock on the floor. A closer look showed a rock with an unusual collour and structure, and after a first examination, experts believe it to be a part of a meteorite, which has plummeted through the atmosphere at a speed of between 300 to 100 km/h before hitting the cabin roof.
