Strong Growth in the Housing Market

Fresh numbers from Statistics Norway (SSB) show that the housing market is rebounding. In fact, house building has grown by 30 percent in the last year.

The growth is most noticeable in orders for new private houses, which grew by 59 percent from the second to third quarter in 2010. However, also orders for commercial structures grew by 32 percent in the same period.

Renovation of private housing grew by around 28 percent, but for commercial buildings this rate remained stable in the last year. The demand for new industrial complexes fell by 10 percent since the same period last year, remaining stable in the second quarter.
