Employment on the rise

From March to June the number of employed persons rose by 17 000 persons. The Norwegian unemployment rate remained stable at 3.5 per cent in the same period, according to Statistics Norway.

The employment increase came among persons within the age group 25-74 years.

The unemployment rate in Sweden was 8.1 per cent in June, and 6.1 per cent in Denmark. Both Sweden and Denmark saw a decrease in the unemployment rate from March to June of 0.4 and 0.5 percentage points respectively.

In the same period the unemployment rate fell by 0.2 percentage points in the USA, ending at 9.5 per cent.

In the EU nations the unemployment rate remained stable at 9.5 per cent. All figures refer to seasonally-adjusted data from Eurostat.
