The American artist Queen Latifah will be the host of this year's Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo Spektrum on December 11.
Normally there are two hosts, but this year Queen Latifah will be the sole host for the first time in fifteen years, VG reports. Queen Latifah will also perform as an artist, which has never happened before.
"I am thrilled to be part of this year's Nobel concert and to help celebrate two such amazing people, who each have, in their own way, worked so hard to promote children's right to education," Queen Latifah states in a press release issued by the Nobel Institute.
The 44-year-old American artist has become known as a rapper, singer, comedian, producer and host. For the time being, she is also the host of her own talk show, The Queen Latifah Show.
"The Peace Prize Concert is the most popular television production that is made during the Nobel days in December in Oslo and Stockholm," Director of the Nobel Institute, Geir Lundestad, says. He is very pleased that Queen Latifah has accepted their offer to lead the musical tribute to this year's Peace Prize winners, Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi.
This will be the 21st Nobel Peace Prize Concert, and it will be broadcasted to a global audience in in between 80 and 120 countries.
