Defence Minister Tore Godal has said that he is ready to inform Parliament about the use of depleted uranium during the war in Kosovo. Several MPs have asked for this information, following reports that Italian and Belgian soldiers have died from lukemia after they served in the Balkans. There is fear that the use of depleted uranium in NATO shells and armour during the Kosovo war may have exposed military personnel to dangerous radiation. According to the Central Military Command, Norwegian KFOR personnel were informed of the possible health hazards in connection with the use of depleted uranium, before they left for Kosovo. More than 2500 Norwegians have served with KFOR in Kosovo. (NRK/Norway Post) Rolleiv Solholm
