The Norwegian engineering company Aker Solutions has been informed that it has lost the bid for a cotract worth NOK 6.9 billion, to build the floating platform for the Goliat Field in the Barents Sea.
Operator ENI Norway has instead awarded the contract to South Korean Hyundai Heavy Industries, which was the lowest bidder. According to Aker Solutions, the contract would have resulted in 7000 man years at Norwegian yards. - We are naturally disappointed, but our focus now is on winning other new build projects and securing our offshore competence in a challenging market, says Jannik Lindbæk, senior vice president for corporate communication in Aker Solutions. Aker Solutions was bidding for the job in a constellation with Samsung Heavy Industries. Norwegian unions have criticised the Norwegian government for allowing the contract to go to a company outside Norway. (NRK) Rolleiv Solholm |
