The strike by nurses at private nursing homes, which began 10 days ago, ended Friday afternoon, when the Minister of Labour, Hanne Bjurstrøm, called for compulsory arbitration.
The move was made after the Norwegian Board of Health had concluded that the strike constituted a danger to patients' life and health. The nurses immediately returned to work, even though the head of the Nurses Union, Lisbeth Normann said she deeply disagreed with the Minister's decision. (NRK/Aftenposten) Rolleiv Solholm |
