Dead soldier flown back to Norway |

The body of the Norwegian soldier who lost his life in Northern Afghanistan last Monday arrived by plane back to Norway on Friday. Before landing, the plane flew low over the soldier's home village of Gressvik.
Claes Joacim Olsson (22) was killed on a mission in the Ghowrmach District in the north of Afghanistan, when his armoured vehicle hit a road mine, The bier, wrapped in a Norwegian flag, was received with military honors at Oslo Airport Gardermoen. An official memorial ceremony followed, attended by the Foreign Minister and the Defence Chief, together with family and friends, as well as officers and men from the Special Command. Olsson was the fifth Norwegian soldier to be killed while serving in Afghanistan. (NRK) |
