Fifty nurses at four private nursing homes in Oslo are on strike from Tuesday, after salary negotiations between the Norwegian Nurses Association and the owners broke down on Monday.
On Thursday another fifty nurses in the counties of Akershus and Hordaland will also go on strike, unless an agreement is reached by then. The nurses in the private sector are demanding pension and minimum salary level equal with nurses in the public health service. It is eight years since nurses last went on strike in Norway.
