- Wrong to subsidise wind power |

It is wrong to use taxpayers' money to subsidise Norwegian wind power when the electricity from these generators is exported, says professor Jørgen Randers, head of the Norwegian Commission on Low Emissions.
The reason is that Norway already has a surplus of renewabvle energy, Randers points out. The main task of the Commission is to describe how Norway can significantly cut its emissions of greenhouse gases in the long term. State-owned ENOVA is ready to soon contribute NOK one billion in support of new wind parks. Enova SF is a public enterprise owned by the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, and its main mission is to contribute to environmentally sound and rational use and production of energy, relying on financial instruments and incentives to stimulate market actors and mechanisms to achieve national energy policy goals. Norway at present has 192 wind driven generators in operation, but energy providers are now ready to build another 3500 new wind mills, NRK reports. (NRK) Rolleiv Solholm |
