The Norwegian Red Cross is Thursday sending a mobile field hospital to Haiti, to help victims of the earthquake. The hospital is fully equipped, and staffed by surgeons and other medical personnel.
Several of Haiti's own hospitals were destroyed or badly damaged in the quake, and capacity is very limited. - It is therefore important that we are able to provide help to those who have survived and are injured, says Børge Brende, Secretary General of the Norwegian Red Cross. Brende will himself travel with the field hospital to Haiti. He underlines that Haiti will need a lot of help in the coming months. Latest reports say a Norwegian citizen is missing after the major earthquake. (NRK) Rolleiv Solholm |
