The cold spell over Norway has also affected the export of natural gas. The Ormen Lange plant was closed dowwn last wekend, and the Kårstø plant is working at only one third capacity.
The reason is the icing down of pipes and equipment. Norske Shell says it is uncertain when the Ormen Lange plant will re-open. Gas from Ormen Lange is piped to Easington in the UK, and is an important part of British natural gas supplies. However, the production at Kårstø is on its way back to normal, according to NRK.
