Snow stops traffic in Western Norway Print E-mail
Image A heavy snowfall over the west coast of Norway on Saturday has resulted in chaotic traffic conditions both on the roads, the rails and in the air. Bergen Airport was closed periodically.

In addition to Bergen Airport Flesland, the Stavanger Airport Sola, and Haugesund Airport were also closed several times for snow clearance throughout the day.

The delays at Bergen spread to all airports in Southern Norway, and also affected the international connections.

The heavy snowfall with strong wind, closed traffic on the roads in many places in the west and on mountain crossings.

Around Bergen trains were stopped by trees that fell across the lines due to the weight of the snow.

In South Eastern Norway roads were slippery after a light snowfall, causing several accidents.
