Norway enters into police cooperation with the EU Print E-mail

Image Justice Minister Knut Storberget promises more solved crimes and better protection of privacy in Norway, after he on Thursday signs an important new and strenghtened police agreement with the EU.

The new, so-called prüm agreement will include the exchange of DNA and fingerprint information with all EU member nations, as well as registration of all motor vehicles.

The EU nations will at the same time gain access to Norwegian registers.

- Norwegian police will be able to solve more crimes, in particular those carried out by East European criminal gangs which have invaded the country, Storberget says.
