Valuable Munch litograph stolen Print E-mail

Image

The valuable Munch litograph "Historien" (History) was Thursday evening stolen from an Oslo art dealer. A large window was smashed in around 22:30, and the thieves escaped in a large van.

Witnesses were Friday morning questioned by the police. They say they heard a loud noice. It is not certain how many were involved in the break-in.

The get-away van has been found only a few streets away and is now being examined by the investigators.

- We are talking about a valuable picture, says art dealer Pascal Nyborg. He says it is unique, and believes it will be difficult to sell. It looks like the they knew what they were after. They have touched nothing else, Pascal say to NRK.

The litography was put up for sale by a customer. It is the same motif that adorns the old University Auditorium in the centre of Oslo.
