An estimated 630,000 Norwegians have by now been infected with the swine flu, and the flu has spread across the whole country. 625 have been hospitalized, 13 of them are under intensive care.
So far, 17 persons have died from the flu, but many of these belonged to the so-called risk groups, afflicted with other sicknesses as well. (Norwegian population: 4.8 million) The mass vaccination program has not progressed as quickly as planned, partly because the British supplier GlaxoSmithKline has not been able to supply the vaccine according to schedule, NRK reports. The Norwegian health authorities are now waiting for a batch of 260,000 units to arrive. (NRK) Rolleiv Solholm |
