Food products, which is the most significant part within manufacturing, saw a 3.8 per cent increase in the third quarter of 2009. This change has contributed to the growth within the industrial production and was related to a significant increase in the export of food in the third quarter of 2009.

Increased output in non-ferrous metals also contributed to the growth within the industrial production in the third quarter of 2009 with an 11.4 per cent rise compared with the second quarter of 2009. The upturn came after a drop in the four previous quarters due to poor demand. Paper and paper products and repair and installation of machinery also had a growth in the output in the third quarter. The production in these industries went up by 8.1 and 4.7 per cent respectively.

Ships, boats and oil platforms and machinery and equipment n.e.c had a 1.4 and 0.7 per cent increase in the output in the third quarter compared with the second quarter, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Due to the stocks of unfilled orders, these industries were able to maintain a substantial level of activity.
