Nortura divisions closing down |

Norway's leading supplier of meat and eggs, Nortura, has announced that it is closing down its slaughterhouses in Sortland, Haugesund and Aalesund. Nearly 500 employees will lose their jobs.
- The cuts are necessary in order to rectify the serious economic situation the Group is in, says Nortura board chairman Sveinung Svibestad. Nortura is is a result of the merger between Gilde Norsk Kjøtt BA and Prior Norge BA, and has 6,500 employees in different industries in 37 municipalities in 15 counties all over the country.
