Monday: Election Day in Norway Print E-mail
Image Today, Monday September 14th is Election Day, with elections to the Norwegian Parliament (Storting) (photo) and to the Sami Assembly in Norway, as well as to the State Church local and diocese councils.

It is the first time that the State Church elections are held on the same day as the general election.

In many cities and larger communities the election booths were open also on Sunday afternoon.

A record number have cast their votes in advance this year.

169 representatives from 19 counties will be elected to the Norwegian Storting (Parliament).

39 representatives will be elected to the Sameting (the Sami National Assembly) which represents Sami across the nation.
